Monday will kick off a week dominated by rain, and Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for tomorrow warning of heavy rain.

Rain, at times heavy, begins Monday morning with total rainfall amounts of 20 to 50 mm expected by Tuesday afternoon.

Locally higher amounts are also possible in areas that are hit by thunderstorms.

A low-pressure system is expected to track northeast across the region Monday through Tuesday. At this time, there remains uncertainty with respect to the track and intensity of the system, hence rainfall amounts and timing of the precipitation will change.

A Special weather statement is issued for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
