OPP in Temiskaming Shores seized drugs and weapons as a follow-up to an initial call of shoplifting at a Highway 11 store on the evening of April 4.
Two people entered a store and stole a number of items then fled northbound on foot.
A short time later, police discovered one individual at a nearby establishment in the company of another person who was wanted on a warrant. Both were arrested.
While on the scene, police noticed a large number of controlled substances inside one of the units. A search warrant was obtained and yielded drug paraphernalia, firearms, weapons, and a number of suspected drugs valued at over $3,800.
A warrant was requested for the occupants of the unit.
On April 18, while officers were on patrol in Cobalt, a vehicle was stopped and the passengers were recognized by police as being wanted.
A search yielded a quantity of suspected controlled substances.
Michel Corriveau, 40, of Timmins is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Two counts of possession of prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose,
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine,
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance - opioid
- Possession of firearm or ammunition
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Five counts of failing to comply with a probation order,
Corriveau was held for a bail hearing and was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice today Temiskaming Shores.
Melissa Doire, 34, also of Timmins is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Doire was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 18 in Temiskaming Shores.
