The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports the thirteenth death from COVID this afternoon.

The death is assigned to the North Bay district which has now seen 10 deaths. Parry Sound district has recorded three.

It marks the fifth death this month alone.

Three people are currently hospitalized and the positivity rate sits at 14.7 per cent.

The Health Unit reports 209 active cases.

The West Nipissing Hospital reported an outbreak today of three cases. Au Chateau Home for the Aged. also in Sturgeon Falls reports an outbreak of 25 people.

Cassellholme has an outbreak of 22 people, while the North Bay Jail outbreak has reached 130. A number of prisoners have been transferred to other jails to try and stem the outbreak.

The positivity rate is the percentage of all coronavirus tests performed in the district that are actually positive.

A higher per cent positive suggests higher transmission and that there are likely more people with coronavirus in the community who haven’t been tested yet. It's a critical measure because it gives an indication of how widespread infection is in the area.
