The Health Unit advises it will share additional information about a case when there is determined to be a risk to the health of the general public from exposure to COVID-19

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says when reporting an individual case of COVID-19, it will no longer include the person's gender.

"Sharing the gender of an individual who tests positive for COVID-19 with the public does not change public safety or the preventative measures taken by the public, or by businesses and municipalities," reads a public service announcement from the Health Unit.

The practice to date had been to include the gender of the individuals from within the district who have tested positive on the Health Unit's COVID-19 cases section of its website. The gender column has now been removed, leaving the case number, age group, exposure, and status as the information provided.

The Health Unit adds, "With the potential for cases related to schools and child care centres it also helps to protect the identity of individuals, both children and adults who test positive for COVID-19."

The Health Unit advises it will share additional information about a case when there is determined to be a risk to the health of the general public from exposure to COVID-19.
