Dr. Jim Chirico speaks with Ontario Premier Doug Ford at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Memorial Gardens, July 5, 2021. They are joined by the Health Unit's since-retired Andrea McLellan (second from left) and Board of Health Chair Nancy Jacko.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is advising that mask-wearing will continue in its offices and its community clinics.

While masking requirements in other high-risk areas, like public transit, have ended, the Health Unit will continue the requirement for clients to wear face coverings when receiving its clinical services.

The remaining government directives were revoked and replaced with Ministry of Health guidance for health care workers and organizations, including guidance on when masks should be worn in hospitals and other health care settings — with the caveat that organizations may implement their own policies — even as the masking requirements expired.

While each health unit will be responsible for its own entry and welcome procedures, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is asking the public to respect the measure in place at its facilities.

The Health Unit states, that when worn properly, masks and face coverings help to prevent the most vulnerable patients from contracting COVID-19. They can also prevent the transmission of COVID-19 to health care providers, keeping people healthy and at work.
