Police have charged a 21-year-old Orillia man with multiple charges relating to a motorists harassment complaint.

The North Bay Police responded to a complaint from a motorist stating they were being followed by another vehicle.

It is alleged that on December 10, police received a complaint from a motorist who advised they had been followed by a vehicle northbound on Highway 11 from Powassan.

Police say the vehicle was driving in an aggressive manner and was now following him around the City of North Bay.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. police performed a traffic stop on Hwy 11-17 bypass. The lone occupant of the white van, the accused, was arrested.

Police identified that the van had been reported stolen from the Orillia area the day before. Police also recovered a loaded non-restricted firearm from the van. It was not used as part of the harassment complaint.

Police say the accused and the victim are not known to each other.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Tyler Wood, age 21, of Orillia who has been charged with:

  • One count of Criminal Harassment
  • One count of Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
