Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca will celebrate Child and Youth Mental Health Week May 1st to 7th, 2016, featuring  #HandsTeaAndTalk and many other local community events. Community events include, WAVE for Mental Health, Family Fun Day, Behaviour Management Workshops, a Movie Night and Art Workshops. All events are free and open to the public.

One of Hands’ initiatives which runs throughout the week and across Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts is #HandsTeaAndTalk. The campaign #HandsTeaAndTalk encourages local businesses and schools to take a break to talk about the important issue of child and youth mental health in our community. Use Hands’ Trivia to start the conversation and post a photo of your TeaAndTalk event to show your support, and to be entered into a prize draw.

Child and Youth Mental Health Week is an initiative of Children’s Mental Health Ontario. The goals of the week are to increase awareness of child and youth mental health problems, to decrease stigma and spread the message that help is available and treatment works.

Research has  demonstrated that early mental health intervention is critical to ensure that our children and youth grow up  happy and healthy.  The services offered by community-based mental health organizations such as Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca often prevent mental health problems from negatively impacting our children’s lives.

The Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) services offered at Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca include counselling, brief therapy, a walk-in clinic, home-based service, school based mental health, crisis response and our CYMH Treatment Centre.
