On July 13, at approximately 3:45 p.m., while investigating an incident on John Street in Sturgeon Falls, West Nipissing OPP officers arrested Taylor Blais, 30, of Sturgeon Falls, as a result of an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
Blais was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of September 5, at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
Later in the evening, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a man entered the West Nipissing OPP Detachment parking lot on John Street in Sturgeon Falls, and stole the personally owned vehicle of an OPP officer. The thief left heading westbound on Highway 17.
Shortly thereafter, officers from Warren and Sudbury OPP Detachments found and stopped the stolen car on Highway 17 in Greater Sudbury. The vehicle did not sustain any damage.
As a result of the investigation, Taylor Blais, 30, from Sturgeon Falls, was arrested and charged with:
- Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle,
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,
- Driver Motor Vehicle - No Licence.
