Things are not looking good weather-wise leading up to the Canada Day 150 long weekend.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Sudbury, North Bay and West Nipissing.
The statement calls for 25 to 55 mm of rain possible overnight tonight, Thursday, and Thursday night.
Here's the low down from Environment Canada:
"A low pressure system developing over Minnesota will track slowly eastwards. Shower with embedded thunderstorms will start late this evening east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, and then spread into eastern Ontario by Thursday morning. Total rainfall amount in general will be in a range of 20 to 40 mm. Some localities that receive multiple thunderstorms may see higher rainfall amounts.
"Current guidance suggests heavy showers tonight will fall across areas extending from Sault Ste. Marie eastwards to Espanola - Killarney with local amounts up to 50 mm. Areas from Grey - Bruce to Barrie - Orillia - Midland may see total rainfall amounts up to 40 mm. There is still some uncertainty at this time depends on the track of the low and where thunderstorms develop. Environment Canada will monitor this weather system closely."
