On Tuesday, September 17,  shortly after 8 a.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a grocery store in the area of Highway 27 and Langstaff Road. No-one was physically harmed.

Investigators say the man entered the store and approached a cashier. He was armed with a handgun and made a demand for cash. The employee complied and the robber fled the area in a vehicle.

Just after midnight this morning officers of the Superior East Detachment of the OPP, the Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit went to White River to assist with the arrest of Chaulk. Constable Trevor Tremblay says Chaulk was found inside a stolen vehicle in a parking lot in White River at approximately 2:30 a.m.

Officers approached the vehicle and arrested the Chaulk without incident.

He was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Failing to comply with recognizance
  • Three counts of failing to comply with a probation order

Chaulk remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing later today.
