Gregory to fellow candidates, 'if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing'

'I believe negativity breeds negativity'

Council candidate Peter Gregory is tired of the mud-slinging going on during the municipal election and is urging fellow candidates to stop.

"With the elections a week away I have noticed that the amount of negative comments coming from some are increasing, sadly this seems to get them attention," he said Tuesday in a news release. "It is disappointing; in my opinion, this does not show the residents of North Bay that candidates can work together. It shows that some candidates want to do nothing more than trash talk a fellow candidate, rather than focusing on what they will do to help our City prosper."

Gregory says he is not hearing too many say that they want to work collaboratively.

"I believe negativity breeds negativity and it will continue to spread within our community unless we collectively choose to behave in a positive fashion, and go back to a rule most of us were raised by, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing."

He also called for increased transparency.

"We need to act with integrity and be transparent at City Hall in all that we do. I believe monthly town hall meetings will help this happen. The citizens of North Bay, the taxpayers need to be included in the process and not excluded as they have been in the past."
