YES Employment Services of North Bay received a cash injection of $215,000 in a grant which will help more than a dozen area young people.

“This program is going to provide services to 15 youth, ten of those youth will be going into training in areas of the labour market where there are positions available right now so that would be heavy equipment, office administration, customer service, carpentry, that kind of stuff,” stated Gisele Cousineau, YES Employment Services CEO.

“They can get up to 12 weeks of training that we will be paying for, that they will receive a certificate for in the end and then after that they are going to go into assisting and finding a place for them and they will have a placement a little bit longer then their training so hopefully at the end of all that they will be employed full time and on their way to start their careers,” she added.

Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota made the funding announcement at the Yes Employment Services downtown North Bay office.

“Sometimes when you get out of school or you drop out of school and you kind of lose your way and with this program what happens is it helps young people under 30 get engaged again and get them into a program where they can get some training, get some experience, and actually be productive members of society and to me that is one of the keys,” said Rota.

“From the federal government perspective it is important to get young people into the work force, get them used to the routine and actually become productive citizens, not only financially but socially as well.”
