There is an increasing number of cancellations and delays coming in because of the Coronavirus.

With concerns over COVID-19 locally, we're putting together a list of related cancellations and closures. This list will be continuously updated.

22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay is limiting access to only those personnel required for essential services, families living on the base and contractors.

Effective Saturday March 21, all OFSC Prescribed Snowmobile Trails in Ontario will be closed and anyone accessing such trails from that date forward will be trespassing. 

Burger World Hammond will be reopening Thursday March 19th at 11AM until 8PM. We will be open for Call-In, Pickup and Delivery until further notice. The dinning rooms and washrooms are closed as per the Ministry of Health. Delivery fees have been reduced from $8.50 to $4.00 for the time being. 

Ontario Hockey League Commissioner David Branch announced today the conclusion of the 2019-20 OHL Regular Season.

Emmanuel United Church, North Bay has cancelled all worship services, meals, Beef Supper and congregational meetings (March 17th – April 11th). The Food Cupboard remains operational (Thursday , 10:00 am -12 noon) but is restricted. An update would be provided on the status of the Community Brunch. We have established an Emergency Preparedness Committee and will be making decisions based on the advice of the Health Unit and our Regional Council.  We hope to Celebrate Easter together (April 12th).

The Capitol Centre has made the decision to postpone or cancel all shows and events scheduled through to April 30th. The following Capitol Centre movies are now cancelled: • Free Family Movie: Playing with Fire (originally scheduled Mar18) • Throwback Thursday: The NeverEnding Story (originally scheduled Mar 19) • Sunday Cinema: Little Women (originally scheduled Mar 22) • Free Family Movie: Wonder Park (originally scheduled March 29) The following live performance events are now postponed or cancelled: • Thane Dunn’s Elvis the Comeback King – postponed til May 30th • Capitol Centre’s Annual Children’s Festival – postponed til July 25, 26 • The New Shanghai Circus – postponed, new date TBA • Snowed in Comedy Tour – postponed, new date TBA • Spring Sing – postponed, new date TBA • NB Symphony Orchestra, Brilliant Beethoven – cancelled • The Man in Black – postponed, new date TBA • The Just for Laughs Roadshow Tour – postponed til April 2021

North Bay Pride will be cancelling all events until the end of April 2020 at this time due to the Covid19 outbreak. We will be reviewing this again the last week of April to make further considerations about future events. We are still planning Pride for July 22 to 25th, 2020 at this time and are in hopes this will go ahead as planned.

The North Bay Regional Science Fair Committee regrets to inform you that, due to the current health concerns, we are cancelling the regional science fair that was scheduled for April 1st.

OPP is restricting access to its facilities, including detachments, across the province until further notice.

City of North Bay. All municipal facilities, including City Hall, Public Works and Parks, will be closed to the public, except by appointment, until further notice as of Wednesday, March 18.

The North Bay and District Multicultural Centre has closed their office until further notice. Staff will be working from home and can be reached by telephone and email.

With concern for the health of our patrons, musicians, volunteers, and staff, the North Bay Symphony (NBSO) has cancelled our April 18 Brilliant Beethoven concert sponsored by Caisse Alliance.

The Catholic Charities Food Bank, located at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption, which is normally open every Tuesday morning, will be closed until further notice, effective immediately. 

Bonfield Municipal Offices including the Bonfield Public Library will be closed to public access, as a precaution and until further notice.  Most Municipal services will still be available, and staff will be able to answer telephone calls, emails and faxes from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. only. All municipal programming and activities have been cancelled. The Council meeting scheduled for March 24th, 2020 has been cancelled. The Rabies Clinic which was scheduled for Saturday March 28th, 2020 has been postponed until further notice.

Workplace Safety North locations are closed – including both Sudbury office and North Bay headquarters – and all staff are working from home until at least April 6, 2020.

A number of Health Science North outpatient programs and services are cancelled for patients who are currently well, and are coming to HSN for routine check-ups or other non-urgent reasons. These appointments will be rebooked for a later date. 

Galaxy Theatre in the North Bay Mall, part of the Cineplex company, has closed until next month.

Powassan: All municipal facilities are closed to the public including the Maple Syrup Festival.

The Granite Club was closed effective this morning until further notice. This will bring to a close the current curling season and may impact the start of our tennis season.

The North Bay Museum will be CLOSED until at least April 5. Gift shop orders can be arranged at this time by contacting Sarah Aubertin at [email protected] or 705-476-2323. All events before April 5, including museum programming and the North Bay Heritage Gardener Education night scheduled for March 26, are cancelled.

Partners Billiards and Bowling Until further notice all Leagues will be suspended. This includes bowling leagues and Billiard Leagues. The Bowling alley and the Billiard hall will remain open to a limited capacity and our staff is doing everything possible to disinfect after use of equipment.

West Nipissing, effective at noon today, the Community and Recreation Centre and the Sturgeon River House Museum will be closed to the public until April 6. This includes all municipal arenas, pool and the fitness centres. The Municipality will release a full update shortly on Municipal services and measures we are taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Health Science North, Effective at noon on Monday, March 16, our Volunteer Program is suspended.

Antoine Mountain in Mattawa announced it is following the same path and will close at the end of the day today.

Laurentian Ski Hill is following directions from the Ontario Ski Resorts Association and is closing the ski hill.  

Sewing Machine is open for business, due to concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), we at The Sewing Machine have decided to cancel all classes until further notice. We are being vigilant with cleaning the store, and washing our hands. Be cautious, enjoy sewing, and take care.

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario will be closing all services due to the COVID-19 outbreak, effective at noon today. This includes the North Bay YMCA Health, Fitness & Aquatics Centres and YMCA Employment and Immigrant Services. and the Sudbury YMCA.

All programs and parties, at Gymtrix will be temporarily suspended as of 5:00 pm, Monday, March 16, 2020, until further notice.

St. Andrew’s United Church:

  • Sunday worship services will be suspended with the hope that they may tentatively resume on Easter Sunday. The Council will, however, actively monitor the situation and may extend the suspension as needed.
  • All face-to-face meetings and gatherings of church-related committees and groups will be suspended until the worship suspension is lifted.
  • Outside groups using the church will be permitted to continue doing so provided they take the usual preventative health precautions.
  • The Loaves & Fishes food bank will continue to operate on Thursday mornings, but with special modifications in place.

March meeting of North Bay Canadian Club is cancelled. 

Goodlife Fitness and Fit4 Less are closing all locations across Canada until further notice. 

North Bay Golden Age Club has announced all activities are cancelled and club closed for three weeks starting March 16

Near North Voices -- North Bay's University-Community Choir Due is ceasing all rehearsal and performance activities for the remainder of our season. Their concert scheduled for March 28, 2020 is postponed to Fall 2020, date TBA. Ticket purchasers can refund their tickets wherever they were purchased, and they will issue new tickets in the Fall. The North Bay & District Multicultural Centre’s “Empowering Women” catering project is postponing the casual buffet ticketed dinner hosted at Tandoori Plus that was supposed to be held on Wednesday, March 25.

Laurentian Ski Hill. Ski and snowboard conditions are still great and we expect a wonderful weekend and March break.

The Capitol Centre has decided to cancel Les McKeown’s BAY CITY ROLLERS show which was scheduled for Sunday March 15.

BACKWOODS OUTDOORS in Rutherglen will be remaining open 7 days a week--but if you are not feeling well please stay away until you are better.

North Bay Astronomy Club held at silver birches public school cancelled for March.

The Anglican Church has announced the temporary suspension of all public worship services, effective today. (Sunday)

PLAYS have decided to cancel all activities and events until further notice. We understand this may come as a disappointment to many, however we are doing so in order to protect all of our members and staff.  Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for when we will be reinstating all of our activities and events. 

YMCA

Child Care, Before & After School Programs.
Effective immediately, all of our child care centres are closed. Full refunds will be provided.

March Break Camps
In an abundance of caution we have cancelled all of our March Break Camps. Full refunds will be provided.

Health, Fitness and Aquatics
As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to unfold we are modifying programming to reduce the potential for spread. All land-based programming, including group fitness classes, gymnastics, judo, yoga and youth programming including Free Teen Nights will be cancelled. In addition, swimming classes are also cancelled.

The Fitness Centre will remain open and we have implemented protocols to encourage social distancing (2 metres) and will only be open to members. The Aquatics Centres will remain open, and we will be limiting the number of participants that can be in those centres at any one time. Chippewa Street will be open to the public as this is also a municipal pool.

The 22 Wing fitness and wellness centre will be reducing services effective Sunday March 15 until further notice. The facility will only be available to members and will not be taking any drop-ins from the general public. In addition, All group fitness classes are cancelled.

The Davedi Club Ladies Auxiliary Spaghetti Supper on March 29, is cancelled.

Trinity Church Board has made the decision to cancel the church service today. (Sunday)

The Tuesday, March 24 show at Jazz at the Junction has been cancelled as a precautionary measure of containment during this time of the spread of the coronavirus. We'll keep in touch with you about rescheduling of the Garry White Trio & Marion Linton Concert.

Canadore is cancelling all physical classes for the week of March 16 to 2, including all on-campus teaching activities such as laboratory and workshop sessions. The measure is applicable to all North Bay and Parry Sound locations.

All child care programs with the Near North School Board and Nipissing Parry Sound Catholic School Board will be closed as well as the Rainbow District School Board. The closure will take effect as of Saturday, March 14 to April 5

Coronavirus fears have caused a postponement of Kevin's Longest Morning Rotary fundraiser. The popular event had been scheduled to run March 26 and 27th from Canadian Tire on McKeown Avenue and feature Kevin Oschefski of radio station KISS 100.5, who spends 29 hours in succession promoting Rotary and raising money for Rotary4Kids.

The annual Ontario Prospectors Exploration Showcase “Exploration finds Mines” scheduled for April 7 + 8 in Thunder Bay is cancelled for this year. OPA is presently setting up procedures to unravel payments already received and to notify anyone who have registered.

The North Bay Horticultural Society Monday, March 16th at 7 p.m. meeting is cancelled.

North Bay Library open...for now! but no March Break programs are available

Game on at the North Bay Museum will be closed until at least April 5, as part of the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Staff will be available to answer inquiries by phone or email. Nipissing University is cancelling all classes (both onsite and online), on Monday, March 16, 2020 and Tuesday, March 17, 2020 to provide faculty and academic support staff adequate time to prepare to deliver course content in alternative ways. Any exams scheduled during this time period will be rescheduled.

Relay For Life is cancelled this weekend due to the recent announcement from Nipissing University (https://www.nipissingu.ca/coronavirus). Friday, March 13th - Saturday, March 14th at 7am.Time: 7pm (Friday) until 7am (Saturday) Location: R. J. Surtees Athletics Centre 

Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption cancels all Masses until further notice. The Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie is taking steps to help stem the spread of coronavirus. Effectively immediately and until further notice, "All Masses, weekdays and weekends, as well as Sunday liturgies of the Word are cancelled," says Marcel Damphousse, Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie."The churches remain accessible for personal visits during usual mass times," he added in a message to followers.

“Developing a Plan for Bourke Park” neighbourhood meeting on Wed., March 18 in City Hall has been cancelled. As an alternative to an online discussion on Wed., March 18, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. will take place.
