Golf season is upon us!

"I know last year we had more than 10 people waiting just for opening so the first person who comes gets a free bucket of balls and we are extremely excited."

Golfers will finally get a chance to bring out their clubs as the Lakeshore Driving Range opened its doors to enthused golfers at noon today.

The golf season is off to a slow start thanks to the late March and early April snow storms the region experienced.

Lakeshore Driving Range owner Erin Vaughan says they are opening about two weeks later than last season.

I will be crazy busy today, I know last year we had more than 10 people waiting just for opening so the first person who comes gets a free bucket of balls and we are extremely excited, we thought when we had that crack of sunshine in March that we would be open earlier so it’s a bit disappointing being open this late but we are happy,” said Vaughan on Wednesday morning prior to the official opening at noon today.

Vaughan says the conditions on the fairway are dry.

Weather permitting they expect to be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the rest of the summer.
