The North Bay Golf Country Club is playing host to the inaugural Patriots of Love, PGA endorsed charity golf tournament.

The event, initialized by local Tom Hedican, teed off this long weekend to raise awareness and funds for the families and loved ones lost in military service.

“When it's the right thing to do, you do it and the PGA of Canada are thrilled to be a part of this,” Bernard says of the launch.

Andre Deschamps, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, says the fact that the community of North Bay and the group that pulled the event together so quickly and so successfully is a testament to their dedication and their care.

“For me to be here to help kick this off is a great pleasure and of course, who can complain about the venue,” says Deschamps.

Local media personality Scott Clark, who is participating in the tournament, says that throughout the weekend, everyone will be donating a toonie across Canada that will undoubtedly go towards as great cause.

“It's also a little bit of camaraderie and fun,” says Clark.

Jeff Mancini, Director of Golf for PGA of Canada, says that hosting the national event is a nice feather in the cap for the North Bay Golf and Country Club.

“The members, the shareholders, the directors, everyone should be really proud to be hosting this event.”

The Patriots of Love Golf Tournament will play throughout the weekend.
