Giving back campaign begins

“We are asking for donations in the form of a Northgate gift card so that we can then purchase supplies for as many young girls as possible.”

Northgate Shopping Centre is trying to spread some good will with the start of the school year approaching.

The mall is asking shoppers to purchase gift cards from Guest Services (near the parking garage) and those funds will be used to buy school supplies and a new backpack for a young girl whose family can’t afford it.

“Our Giving Back to School campaign will help young girls in the community obtain the supplies that they need for a successful school year,” stated Jordanna Grant, Northgate Shopping Centre’s Marketing Director about the initiative which is part of Morguard’s BeYou campaign.

Grant says the campaign is sponsored by CTS Canadian Career College and will support girls in the Big Sisters Go Girls program.

Grant says process is very simple.

“We are asking for donations in the form of a Northgate gift card so that we can then purchase supplies for as many young girls as possible,” stated Grant.

“People can donate what they like. We are asking for a minimum of $5 in the form of a gift card.  For every $50 donated, one girl will get all of the supplies she needs. Our amazing Guest Services team is happy to help and answer any questions that the public may have and can walk them through the process.

“For every $50 donated one girl will receive a backpack and several other supplies to help her have a successful school year.  Some sample items that they may receive are on display at our Guest Services desk.  We are asking people to please donate before September 8th as we will be presenting Big Sisters with the backpacks at the launch of our BeYou campaign on Sept 10,” she said.

Northgate is also accepting supply donations that you can drop off at Guest Services. Grant says they can also accept donations in the form of a money order.

The donors will also get a ballot to enter and possibly win a $500 Northgate gift card.
