Gifts, hats and turkey galore could all be had at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption Church Tuesday for the annual Christmas Day Dinner for folks who are alone during the holiday.

‘No one should be alone or hungry at Christmas,’ that is the motto of the Community Christmas Dinner Committee and again this year they did their best to provide a warm social atmosphere with a traditional dinner.

Volunteers, who showed up wearing their best Christmas garb and smiles, hosted a holiday party for over 300 people that featured good music, loud laughter and great food.

Committee Chair David Johnson says food safety is a personal interest of his and that is how he became involved with the committee seven years ago.

“Food security is a passion of mine,” he states.

“I’ve been put out of a job this year,” he laughs noting that the turn out of volunteers was great.

As a parting gift folks received a gift bag containing toiletries and chocolates as well they had their pick of a handmade knitted hat.
