Funny money no laughing matter for counterfeiter

An 18-year-old North Bay man faces multiple counterfeiting charges after fake money was seized from a person Wednesday night by the North Bay Police Service.

Constables Bill Gainforth and Dave Wilson were called to the Galaxy Cinemas Wednesday afternoon by staff holding a man who had passed counterfeit currency.

The man was arrested and police found 28 counterfeit ten-dollar bills in his possession.

Police then searched the man's home and found another $1,100 in counterfeit tens. A printer/scanner was also seized.

George Terry, of Bell Street, has been charged with possession of counterfeit currency, utter counterfeit currency and making counterfeit currency. He is to appear in court Oct. 19.
