As of 9:11 AM EST Friday, Environment Canada continued the freezing rain warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River.

Freezing rain expected to change over to rain later this morning.

An intense winter storm over Lake Superior will continue to move north towards Eastern Hudson Bay today.

Freezing rain currently falling across the regions will change to rain or wet snow this morning and then back to flurries later this morning or this afternoon. The freezing rain will spread further north towards Timmins this morning, lasting for a few hours before changing to rain later this morning.

Untreated surfaces may quickly become icy and slippery as the freezing rain moves in.

A winter storm is rapidly intensifying as it tracks towards Lake Superior tonight, then moves through Northern Ontario towards James Bay on Friday.

Snow will spread into Northeastern Ontario this evening, then change to ice pellets and freezing rain for a few hours before changing to rain by morning.

As of 3:37 PM EST Thursday, Environment Canada continued the freezing rain warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River.

Two weather systems, both tracking toward the Great Lakes, will merge and rapidly intensify into a major winter storm this evening. The storm centre is expected to reach Lake Superior overnight, then move through Northern Ontario towards James Bay on Friday.

Snow will spread into Northeastern Ontario this evening, then change to ice pellets and freezing rain for a few hours before changing rain by morning.

As of 5:44 AM EST Thursday, Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River.

A period of freezing rain likely tonight.

Snow on the leading edge of a large precipitation shield associated with the winter storm will arrive this evening, then change over to ice pellets and freezing rain for a few hours before changing over to plain rain by morning as a warm front moves through.

An Alberta clipper and Texas low are tracking towards the Great Lakes where they will merge and rapidly intensify into a major winter storm by this evening. The storm centre is expected to reach Lake Superior on Friday morning, then move into Northern Ontario towards the Kapuskasing area by Friday evening.

This winter storm will have significant impact across all of Northern Ontario over the next couple of days.
