Update, the freezing rain warning for all areas has been cancelled. Freezing rain conditions are no longer expected.

A freezing rain warning (4 p.m.) has been issued for:

  • North Bay - West Nipissing, 
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity, 
  • New Liskeard - Temagami 
  • Burk's Falls - Bayfield Inlet
  • Huntsville - Baysville, 

Current details: 

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring. A band of freezing rain and ice pellets will develop as temperatures drop behind a cold front this evening. Two to four hours of of freezing rain is expected. The band is forecast to set up from Gogama to Kirkland Lake this evening and move southward throughout the night reaching Sudbury overnight and North Bay Friday morning. 

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
