Four locals arrested in home invasion

Police say all four were involved in a home invasion at an apartment building in the 300-block of Main Street East at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 10

North Bay Police have arrested and charged four people in relation to a home invasion at an apartment building in the 300-block of Main Street East on Saturday, April 10 at 11:45 p.m.

On April 14, police arrested one man and one woman at a house on Development Road in Bonfield.

The next day police arrested an additional man and woman at a home in the 300-block of Fisher Street, North Bay.

Police say all four were involved in a home invasion at an apartment building in the 300-block of Main Street East at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 10.

After an intensive investigation, police sought and obtained a search warrant for a residence on Development Road in Bonfield.. On April 14, North Bay Police, assisted by members of the OPP, executed the search warrant. Two others were arrested and charged.

Megan Carey, 33, a female from Bonfield, is charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm

Francois Guenette, 42, a male from Bonfield, is charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm

Carey and Guenette will appear before the court at the North Bay Courthouse on May 25.

The North Bay Police Service recognized the Ontario Provincial Police for its assistance in this investigation as well as support in the execution of the April 14 search warrant and arrests.

Police sought and obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 300-block of Fisher Street, North Bay. On April 15.  North Bay Police executed the search warrant. Two people were arrested and charged.

Gerald Widdifield, 49, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Failure to comply with a probation order
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Sarah Mitchell, 33, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Failure to comply with a probation order

Widdifield and Mitchell remain in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse today.

North Bay Police are continuing their investigation. Officers urge anyone who may have security camera video, including dashcam video in the areas of Percy Street and Main Street East at the time of the alleged incident to contact police.
