Former Battalion star inks AHL deal

A popular former North Bay Battalion star has inked an American Hockey League deal with the Cleveland Monsters, the team reported on Monday. 

In 2019-20, Struthers posted 11-10-21 with 14 penalty minutes and a -23 rating in 25 appearances for the OHL’s North Bay Battalion and added 11-27-38 with 31 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 37 appearances for the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack.

On December 2, Struthers was sent to Owen Sound. The picks headed to North Bay are all of Owen Sound’s and include a 2nd in 2022, a 3rd in 2023 and a 6th in 2024.

A 6’2”, 209 lb. London, Ontario product appeared in five games for the AHL’s Laval Rocket during the 2018-19 season, supplying one goal and a -3 rating. In 298 career OHL appearances for North Bay and Owen Sound spanning parts of five seasons from 2015-20, Struthers contributed 91-126-217 with 130 penalty minutes and a +2 rating.

Struthers best season in the OHL was back in 2018-19 when he racked up a career-high 31 goals and 50 assists for 81 points playing alongside 61-goal man Justin Brazeau.
