Barclay Goodrow, the first North Bay Battalion player to suit up for an NHL game, has been traded from the San Jose Sharks to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Goodrow goes to the Lightning in exchange for a first round draft pick.

The deal came down right at the 3 p.m. NHL trade deadline.

In 62 games for the Sharks this season, Goodrow has eight goals and 16 assists. The 26-year-old has 26 goals and 45 assists in 268 career games, all with the Sharks.

Goodrow has one year left on his deal after this season, with a salary cap hit of $925K.

Goodrow joined the Sharks as an undrafted free agent in 2014 from the North Bay Battalion.

He was also responsible for one finishing off one of the biggest comebacks in Sharks history last spring when his overtime goal eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights from playoff contention.

Interesting note, no former North Bay or Brampton Battalion player has ever gone on to hoist the Stanley Cup. Goodrow would like to be the first.
