Forest fires dwindling

The latest forest fire report from Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services shows that the Northeast Fire Region is seeing a sharp decrease in fire activity.

There are 25 active forest fires across the northeast but all 25 are either under control or being observed.

There was one new fire confirmed yesterday. Parry Sound 46 covered 0.1 of a hectare, about 23 km westnorthwest of Sundridge. It has already been declared out.

The most well-known fire, Parry Sound 33 is fire is under control at 11,362 hectares.

Although the fire perimeter remains restricted, waterway and road restrictions have all been lifted.

Forest firefighters on the ground continue to attack the remaining hot spots in a coordinated and prioritized manner says a news release.
