The forest fire threat just north of North Bay in Marten River and Temagami which has included evacuations last night has led the City of North Bay to implement its Emergency Management Plan to monitor the situation.

“At this time there is no immediate threat to the North Bay Area and there have been no requests for local resources with respect to supporting evacuation requirements,” stated North Bay Mayor Al McDonald in a Monday morning release.

“The City of North Bay has initiated contact with local resources should there be a need to offer assistance in the event of a full-scale evacuation.”

McDonald says the city will continue to monitor the situation and update when new information comes available.

Residents are reminded that the City of North Bay and the Province of Ontario have issued a fire ban in the area.

Meantime, some other volunteer fire departments in the region are reportedly sending resources north to assist in the forest fire threat near Temagami.
