Ontario Provincial Police officers in Mattawa followed footprints in the snow right and arrested a suspect in some local vehicle break-ins.

The officers were dispatched shortly after 2 a.m. this morning regarding the break-ins, which took place on Earl Street in Mattawa.

They had already been investigating a series of similar thefts that had occurred in Mattawa over the last few weeks.

In this particular case a Mattawa resident contacted police after he followed foot tracks in the snow from his residence. The resident believed he was able to identify the culprit. Police continued to follow foot prints to various motor vehicles in the area.

Just before 3 a.m., police met the resident who successfully found the suspect on Hurdman Street in Mattawa.

Jodi Sloan, 24, has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, and two counts of breach of probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Sloan is in custody and will be appearing today, at the Ontario Court of Justice, 360 Plouffe Street, North Bay, Ontario, for a bail hearing.
