It is opening night for Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre’s latest production ‘Oliver!’

The dedication and talent of this troupe once again reminds us why North Bay is alive with culture.

For local artist/photographer Liz Lott taking part in this year's family production has taken her out of her comfort zone and challenged her in a number of ways for which she is grateful.

"Our kids can open up the world for us and expose us to new and exciting opportunities and experiences! I have to say that I am SO grateful to my son Tobin for asking me to be a part of Dreamcoat's family production of "Oliver."

"I have never sang and danced more in my life and had more fun with such a large group of kind and wonderfully talented people," notes Lott.

"I now have new and very awe-inspiring appreciation for actors and live theatre. What an incredible vibrant and alive art form for human expression."

"Being on stage is a little out of my comfort zone but I am truly enjoying and loving this unique opportunity to be creatively involved with Tobin, friends and my community," she says.

"Thank you to the amazing and inspiring Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre, Oliver’s cast and crew and thank you Tobin! I’m really looking forward to the next 5 days of performances with you all."

Oliver! based on Charles Dickens work ‘Oliver Twist’, is about an orphan who runs away from an orphanage and befriends the Artful Dodger, and gets tangled up with his group of pickpocketing boys who live with an elderly mentor Fagin.

This family classic which will be performed at West Ferris Secondary School, directed by Jocelyn Bell-Summersby and vocal direction by Tracey Halsey with an all-star cast that includes Tikvah Tignanelli (Oliver) Maggie Wolfe (DODGER) and Allan MacAskill (BILL SYKES), tells the tale of Oliver through songs that include Food, Glorious Food, Where is Love?, Consider Yourself, Pick a Pocket or Two, As Long As He Needs Me and Oom-Pah-Pah will have you tapping your toes and humming along.

With standout performances by Roxey Size (NANCY), Glen Blair (MR. BUMBLE) and Leslie Stamp (WIDOW CORNEY) the ticket price seems like a bargain.

The show runs Wednesday, December 5th through to Saturday, December 8th at 7:30 plus a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

Tickets are just $15 and can be purchased from any cast member, Creative Learning on Main Street or by calling Dreamcoat at 705-472-1590.

Also, if you love spaghetti you may want to take advantage of the fundraising dinner on Saturday December 8th at 5:00 p.m.

The dinner will take place between the 2:00pm matinée show and the 7:30pm evening show at West Ferris Secondary School.

Tickets for the spaghetti dinner, which includes salad and a dinner roll, are only $10 each.
