Five new COVID cases Friday

Active cases jump to 26

The North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit reports five new COVID cases today. There have now been 477 cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.

Active cases have been rising recently with 26, all in the Nipissing District.

Also, the vaccination rate for adults in the region has now topped 70 per cent.

Meanwhile,  Chief Medical Officer at the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says he cannot give area residents a timeline when health protocols such as mask-wearing and social distancing measures will be lifted and life will feel like we are back to normal again.

Also, yesterday, around 5:30 p.m., police acted on a tip from the public about a large gathering that was occurring at a house on Deerfoot Trail in Huntsville. Officers found a large group of people non-compliant with restrictions under the Reopening Ontario Act.

The Timiskaming Health Unit reports no new cases and two active.

The Sudbury |Health Unit reports two new cases and 19 active cases.

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit reports 26 new cases and 239 active cases.
