We are thrilled to be carrying on a tradition of celebrating extraordinary people in our community that started many years ago with our colleagues at Sudbury.com and is making its way across our Village Media network.

This year marks BarrieToday’s first annual Community Builders Awards. And we think you will love it as much as we do.

As steadfast champions of local, we strive to support and uplift our community and that most certainly includes the innovative, resilient and inspiring people who make our community so special.

We are honoured to present this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding community members who have positively contributed to our city.

Awards of Excellence will honour individuals and organizations in Arts, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Hall of Fame, Health Care, Legacy, Sports and Recreation, Young Leader and Unsung Heroes categories.

A full description of each category can be found here.

All Barrie residents, businesses and organizations are eligible for nomination.

We will celebrate virtually - recognizing each of the winners with a story and a video that honours their accomplishments.

Nominations are open now until Aug. 22. You can learn more and nominate someone for the Community Builders Awards here.

A team of local judges will review the submissions once nominations close. We plan to start announcing the winners in early November.

We look forward to reading about the remarkable community members who have helped build Barrie into the community we call home.
