Fire crews busy with four fires in 24 hours

Yesterday three fires, including two residential fires, kept firefighters busy

North Bay firefighters are presently (9 a.m.) at the scene of a shed fire at 987 Tilley Rd, off Jane St. The structure has been completely destroyed with just a foundation left.

There is some damage to the side of the nearby home.  No injuries and no word on a cause as of yet.

Yesterday three fires, including two residential fires, kept firefighters busy.

At 1066 Maher Street, Chief Jason Whiteley says fire crews found the fire was on the second floor when they arrived on the scene.

"When the crews got to the second floor to do the search and hit the fire, the room flashed over on them. It flashed twice. We did have one firefighter injured with a burn to his hand," he says.

Whiteley told CKAT that no one was home at the time, and there's no word on a cause.

Earlier there was a fire on Anne Street that Whiteley says was caused by a candle.

"Someone put a candle onto a working heater and the candle melted and the wax caught on fire. Crews took care of that one pretty quickly."

There were no injuries there.

Last night, fire crews responded to a call at a movie set on Highway 11 North, after a faulty heater caused a fire. Whiteley says the fire was out by the time crews arrived on the scene.
