Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is encouraging doctors and residents to attend a town hall meeting in North Bay this week to learn about the impact of pending cuts to health care planned by the McGuinty Liberals.

The key objective of the meeting is to allow doctors the opportunity to explain to their patients how provincial fee cuts will impact the care they receive.

“It isn’t doctors making these changes, it's the Liberal government,” said Fedeli.

“Another of my aims is to hear the concerns that doctors in Nipissing have about the current state of contract negotiations between the Ontario Medical Association (OMA)
and the McGuinty government,” Fedeli added.

“It’s unfortunate that the OMA recently was forced to go to court to challenge the government’s negotiating tactics and recent actions.”

Fedeli maintains the government has mismanaged its negotiations with doctors from the start.

“It is clear that we need to rein in the size and cost of government,” Fedeli said.

“But not only has the current government been unable to do this, they have wound up angering some of our most valued public servants, including doctors.”

The town hall meeting will take place at The Empire on 425 Fraser St. Thursday September 6th from 7 to 9 p.m.
