North Bay's network of trails is a great ride for families.

Work to extend the Kinsmen Trail along Airport Road, between the intersection at Algonquin Avenue and the trailhead near the Davedi Club, is set to begin next week.

The work will include the construction of an asphalt path and installation of curb and gutter, storm sewer, a retaining wall and road restoration. The project will start tomorrow with the installation of storm sewers.

Storm sewer installation will continue until Friday, Sept. 9, taking place overnight between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. A second crew will be completing other work along the south side of Airport Road during the day starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, until project completion, tentatively scheduled for Nov. 11.

During the first week of construction, while work takes place at night, traffic will be reduced to one lane only using portable traffic lights. During the daytime period, one lane of traffic in both directions will be provided. Access to local properties will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians are asked to travel along the north side of Airport Road.

Drivers are advised to consider adding extra time to their schedule or temporarily take an alternate route as there may be short traffic delays while this project is underway.
