Local organizers of the Idle No More movement are planning another traffic slowdown between Sturgeon Falls and North Bay for January 16, 2013 in support of national efforts of First Nations.

“We are calling for the repeal of bill C-45 and the full implementation of the treaties” said organizer Joe McLeod, a Nipissing First Nation member.

Traffic will not be blocked but there will be a slowdown on Highway 17 near North Bay today between Christine Lane and the Oasis Trailer Park in Commanda Township as information is provided to the public from 7:30 a.m. until 3p.m.

“This will be a peaceful demonstration continuing our efforts to communicate our frustration with the government’s inability to listen to the people”, said Rodney Commanda, NFN member.

Local organizers are working with the OPP and APS to ensure the safety of all participants and to ensure that traffic can proceed through the site in an orderly way. Commuters can expect a short delay as they proceed through the information stop.

Organizers invite the public to visit the rally and join them to communicate this important message. “We’re standing up for not only our future generations but the future generations of all Canadians – please join us in sending a strong message to government”, said Mr. McLeod.
