Expect lengthy traffic delays on the bypass this week

Expect lengthy traffic delays this week at the Highway 11/17 and Seymour Street intersection.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 11/17 will be closed for "short" durations starting tomorrow until the end of Thursday, Oct. 29, while Teranorth Construction & Engineering paves sections of the intersection.

The work will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Travellers should add extra time to their schedule when using this intersection or take an alternate route advises a City news release.

  • vehicles travelling northbound on King’s Highway No. 17 detour onto Highway 94 towards Callander, then north to Lakeshore Drive to access the City’s road network to get to their destination;
  • vehicles travelling northbound on King’s Highway No. 17 stay on the inside lane and travel south on King’s Highway No. 11 to the Lakeshore Drive off ramp in order to access the City’s road network to get to their destination;
  • vehicles travelling northbound on King’s Highway No. 11 should take the off ramp at Lakeshore Drive in order to use the City’s road network, get to their destination

The reconstruction of the Highway 11/17 and Seymour Street intersection is nearly complete and Teranorth Construction & Engineering Limited is preparing to wind down the project for this construction season.

Final milling and paving is slated for completion in the spring of 2021.
