As of 10:21 PM EDT Tuesday 19 April 2011, Environment Canada issued the following snowfall warning for the North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa - West Nipissing - French River areas.

..15 cm of snow overnight and Wednesday..

A low pressure system currently located over Indiana will track slowly toward Lake Erie tonight. Snow in advance of this system will spread northeast this evening and reach North Bay near midnight. Snow is expected to continue overnight and Wednesday. The snow will be quite heavy at times overnight as the low pressure approaches. A clap or two of thunder may accompany the bursts of heavy snow.

Brisk northeast winds of 30 gusting to 50 km/h could give local blowing snow. Total snowfall amounts with this storm are expected to be about 15 cm. The snow will taper off Wednesday night when the low moves over Lake Ontario into Northern New York state.

Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate with the onset of the snow and become hazardous due to very low visibility in heavy snow and accumulating snow on untreated roads.

As of 11:20 AM EDT Tuesday 19 April 2011, Environment Canada issued the following Winter storm watch for the North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa - West Nipissing - French River areas.

..Snow at times heavy tonight into Wednesday.

A low pressure system currently located over Eastern Kansas will track slowly toward the Great Lakes regions tonight. Snow in advance of this system will spread northeast this evening and is expected to continue into overnight and Wednesday. The snow could be quite heavy at times overnight as the low pressure gets closer. Brisk northeast winds of 30 gusting to 50 km/h could give local blowing snow. There is a risk of freezing rain in an area extending from Manitoulin to North Bay as warm air pushes up from the south aloft. Total snowfall amounts with this storm at this time may reach or exceed 15 cm. The snow will taper off from west to east Wednesday night when the low moves to Quebec.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the intensity and track of the system and warnings may be issued as the situation warrants.
