Over the past two years, the Rotary Clubs of North Bay and Nipissing and the Rotaract Club of North Bay-Nipissing have participated in the “End Polio Now Tulip Campaign” in support of the goal to see the complete eradication of the disease.

The combined efforts of the three clubs resulted in the sale of 249 boxes of bulbs raising $3,873.88, which coupled with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Matching Grant of 2 to 1, generated a total contribution of over $11,600.

Several boxes were purchased by to the North Bay Heritage Gardeners, while some were donated to the City of North Bay Parks Department and other local organizations, including the Dionne Quints Museum, and planted in various flower beds, including at city hall, and are now in full bloom.

Again, this year, the local clubs are taking part in the campaign, with members purchasing tulip bulbs for planting or donating.

Anyone interested in purchasing bulbs can contact the North Bay club at [email protected]. The cost is $25 (25 bulbs) per box. The order deadline is June 3rd.
