Employee helps police arrest break-in suspect

A thief that broke into the Granite Club on Trout Lake Road was caught after being chased by an employee.

North Bay Police received a report of a break and enter in progress shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday, October 7.

A man was seen inside the recreational facility rummaging through drawers in the office area and was approached by an employee at which point the intruder fled the building. Police were called and the employee gave chase. An officer responding to the call saw the chase and with the help of the employee, the man was apprehended.

A search of the man revealed several tools constituting break-in instruments.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Kirill Loginov, age 20, of West Nipissing who has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Breach of probation.

Loginov remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
