Driver that almost hits OPP cruiser charged with impaired

A motorist almost collided with a fully marked OPP cruiser on Highway 124, just west of Magnetawan last Friday before being pulled over.

Police say on Friday, January 1, at12:19 a.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP on general patrol saw a motor vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle continued down Highway 124 at Edward Street and almost collided with the fully marked cruiser  

Police investigation revealed that Chelsea Wilson 27, of Laurier Township had consumed alcoholic beverages and was subsequently arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Wilson was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

She was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday February 11, 2021 in Sundridge..
