Original story:

Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre is presenting MADAGASCAR on January 23rd, 24th and 25th for school presentations and Jan 26th and 27th for public performances at The Capitol Centre.

Under the direction of Krysten Griffith with Vocal Direction by Fiona Spack and Choreography by Macey Culhane, 95 children from grades 3 – 8 have been rehearsing at West Ferris S.S. since September to present their show.

Marty the Zebra pining for the wild on his tenth birthday. Living in New York’s Central Park Zoo, Marty and his friends – Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe – have spent all their years inside this concrete jungle.

The adventure begins when Marty escapes from the zoo with a group of penguins – Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, Private,  Goose, Deana and Maverick – and his three friends follow him, trying to make him see sense but to no avail. On reaching Grand Central Station, the animals are mistaken to be aggressive and are shipped off to a Kenyan wildlife preserve by the zoo authorities.

But when the crafty penguins hijack the ship and events take an unexpected turn, Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria find themselves in Madagascar! Marty is ecstatic that he is finally out in the wild, but Alex, who is used to being treated like a king in the zoo, is desperate to go back. On the island, the gang wins the trust of a pack of lemurs, led by witty and conceited King Julien. Alex and gang also save the lemurs from their wretched enemies, the fossa. But the toughest challenge is for Alex, who is desperate to indulge his carnivorous cravings and is longing for his favourite steak.

The penguins return and the animals leave with them, intending to head back to their beloved home at the zoo.
