For the first time in three years, Dreamcoat is back on stage with 80 children between 8-14 years of age who are excited to show what they have been working on since early October.

The play is titled "Disney’s Descendants the Musical."

“It’s been a real joy to experience live theatre again and work with this talented group of young individuals," says Director Darren Summersby. "With half of them not having been on stage for almost three years, the other half experiencing a chance in the spotlight for the first time, and myself having grown up in this program this whole process has been truly remarkable and it’s been a real joy to work with our next generation of performers”.

The creative team for this production of Descendants, the director, choreographer and vocal director, are all young adults who have grown up in the Dreamcoat program.

"It's a true testament to the many positive influences Dreamcoat has on the youth in our community," adds Summersby.

According to a news release, "Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney Descendants The Musical is a brand-new musical, jam-packed with Disney characters and hit songs from the films!

"Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never been allowed off the Isle… until now. When the four troublemakers are invited to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes in the Kingdom of Auradon, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ evil footsteps and find all the “Ways To Be Wicked”? Or could they learn to be “Better Together?"

Our talented children will be performing five school shows, a private presentation sponsored by Assante Wealth Management, and three public shows.

Shows take place Friday, January 27 at 7 and Saturday at 1 and 7.

Tickets are available exclusively through the Capital Centre website or at the box office.
