It's been one giant celebration for a few years now, but that won't change when Summer in the Park moves to Memorial Gardens says DIA Executive Director Jeff Serran.
"If you look at how well we did when they were in Lee Park or when they were right down at the waterfront, it's a partnership that will flourish no matter where it is," said Serran. "We were aware these plans were in the works and what can be done to ensure longevity.
“The Downtown event was on way before Summer In The Park and it will continue no matter where it is in the city,” Serran adds. “I can envision having a shuttle along Ferguson Street from the events that are happening in the downtown to the events that are happening with Summer In The Park,” he says. “It frees up a lot of parking in the downtown during that weekend.”
The committee has announced it will move the festival concerts into Memorial Gardens to reduce weather risk and overall staging costs.
The midway will be moved to Thomson Park.
