A North Bay woman was bitten by a dog Saturday evening as she walked along Third Avenue between Cassells and Fraser streets.

The North Bay Police Service says the woman encountered a black medium-sized poodle type dog which was very aggresive and appeared to be covered in mud.

The dog bit the woman's hand and lacerated her finger. She kicked at the dog several times until it ran away towards Fraser Street. The attending physician for the victim had concerns for the health of the dog and consequently gave the woman a rabies vaccine.
