Death threat leads to Sturgeon man's arrest

On January 9, members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP received information that an individual had pointed a firearm at someone and threatened to kill that person while at a residence in Sturgeon Falls.

Then, on January 13, the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit, with members from the Northeast Region Emergency Response Team, the Northeast Region Support Team and the OPP Canine Unit executed a search warrant at a home in Sturgeon Falls.

Officers seized a quantity of drugs, suspected to be Methamphetamine (speed), along with some long guns and ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, Ronald Watson, 49, from Sturgeon Falls, was arrested and is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Uttering threats - cause eath

Watson was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sturgeon Falls on March 5..
