Two dead cats were found in a ditch in Burk’s Falls near the intersection of Katrine Road and Ontario Street. Now, the Ontario SPCA wants to know what happened.

Construction workers discovered the animals and reported them to the OSPCA on September 18.

"One of the cats appears to have suffered head trauma, while the body of the second cat appears to have chest trauma," said Melissa Kosowan of the Ontario SPCA."The bodies of the cats were found arranged side by side, facing in opposite directions."

One of the cats is a young female, with medium-long black hair and white markings on her feet and face. The other cat is a young male, with a medium-long black hair. The cats were not microchipped and were not wearing collars.

“If you witnessed anything unusual in that area leading up to the date when these cats were discovered, please report that information so that we can follow up accordingly,” says Alison Green, Senior Inspector, Ontario SPCA. “We are trying to determine who owned these cats and the circumstances surrounding their death.”

Anyone with information that could assist in this investigation is asked to call the Ontario SPCA’s province-wide animal cruelty hotline at 310-SPCA (7722) or email [email protected]
