The City of North Bay is advising sections of Judge Avenue and Lee Avenue between Veterans Park and George Street will close daily for the next two-plus weeks while the installation of a watermain is underway.

The streets will reopen during evenings and on weekends. Additionally, a portion of the Kate Pace Way, near Veterans Park, will be detoured onto Judge Avenue while work is underway.

The project, which began Tuesday, will see a new 400-millimetre watermain installed utilizing both open excavation and horizontal directional drilling.

Open excavation, which is now underway, will continue in stages to Leask Avenue.

Horizontal directional drilling, which will begin at a later date, will be conducted beneath the Judge Avenue, Lakeshore Drive and Memorial Drive area in order to allow that intersection to remain open to traffic.

Additional notices will be issued for future road closures.

The work is expected to take approximately 10 weeks to complete. Once installed, the new watermain will alleviate ongoing water pressure issues and serve as a second large-diameter feed to deliver drinking water to the West Ferris area.

The City of North Bay thanks residents for their patience while this infrastructure project is completed.
