The city has waved $725,000 in back taxes the Near North District School Board was levied for Vincent Massey Public School.

The board learned it was being taxed because the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority had run a part of Jack Pine Hill out of the 10 per cent of Vincent Massey it owned at the time.

Taxes for the same time period have also been waived for the authority.

City council has the discretion to waive the taxes under the Municipal Act, Mayor Vic Fedeli said following tonight's council meeting.

In anothe matter Mendicino said he will introduce a motion once again asking the province for a completion date for Hwy 11 four-laning.
