North Bay's country music star is going on the big screen.

Cory Marks, left for a flight to the United States to embark on another exciting career adventure.

He's playing a small role in a new horror/thriller movie.

"The Retaliators is a movie produced by my label (Better Noise) and features my label mates Tommy Lee of Motley Crüe, members of Five Finger Death Punch and PaPa Roach," said Marks while waiting to board his flight.

"I’ll be playing the role of 'Jimmy' the bartender at their club bar/hideout. It’s a small role but you gotta start somewhere and I’m very thankful for the opportunity to be part of this film."

The year 2020 was a downer for many, but it arguably was the coming-out party for the local musician. The local artist's album "Who am I" was released in August. His debut album accumulated over 30 million streams globally in 2020. It was a top-five album globally on the iTunes Charts peaking #3 in the UK, #2 in the USA, Australia, and Canada.

Most recently his song "Outlaws & Outsiders" was named the third most played song from a debut Canadian artist on active rock radio Canada. It was a top 10 US Rock Radio hit, #3 in Germany, peaked at #12 in Canada, and obtained over 50 million streams/video views.

Because of that success, Marks will also be spending some time recording a new album.

"I’m going to be taking two weeks after the shooting of the movie to work with my producer on the new album," said Marks.

"I’ve been writing lots during this COVID-19 lockdown and I’m really excited to be recording new music for the new record coming out hopefully later this year."

Marks says he is looking forward to putting out some more new music.

"The love I got globally on my debut album has definitely let me and my team know that music fans of all genres are loving this sound and these songs," said Marks.

"I’m excited to watch it all come to life and making even more fans with this new album."

He is also hoping to be able to share his music in person with the ability to take his show on the road in front of fans soon.

"I can’t wait to be back on the road, playing for crowds of people," he admitted.

"Seeing them, hearing them, and feeling their energy. I miss it lots, I think we all do!"
