Cops crack case with help from surveillance video

Police investigated a break-in on Lakeshore Drive.

Further proof that it pays for businesses in North Bay to use security cameras, on Tuesday, October 27 police investigated a break-in at an automotive business on Lakeshore Drive. 

That morning an employee discovered that the business, located in the 100 block of Lakeshore, had been broken into overnight. A small amount of money and computer equipment were stolen.

As part of the investigation surveillance video was secured in the area and a man was identified as the person responsible.

The next day the man was located by officers while on patrol on O’Brien Street. He was arrested and a search resulted in break-in tools being seized and property associated with the break-in recovered.

Francois Shank, 32, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Break, enter and theft
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession of break-in instruments.

Shank was released following a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse. He will appear in court on December 8.
