Cops catch car going 180

Since January 1, the North Bay OPP has charged eight drivers with stunt driving
speeding highway

OPP officers stopped a car going more than 80 km/h above the posted speed limit of 100 km/h today on Highway 11.

It was early, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from the North Bay Detachment were conducting radar patrol on the northbound lanes of Highway 11 in North Bay. 

The driver, Glen Poulin, 25, of Nipissing First Nation, has been charged with "Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed."

His driver's licence was suspended for seven days and vehicle seized for seven days.  

Poulin was released on a summons to attend court in North Bay on March 23.   

Since January 1, the North Bay OPP has charged eight drivers with stunt driving for travelling at more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

Upon conviction, stunt drivers face fines of $2,000 up to $10,000, six demerit points, up to six months jail and up to two years licence suspension for a first conviction.
