A company expected to create 250 local jobs by the summer through its new Sudbury call centre says it was the quality of Sudbury's workforce that attracted it to the city.

“We were really attracted to the kind of labour force Sudbury offers,” said Tom Band, CEO of Millennium1 Solutions, which announced Thursday it is expanding to Sudbury.

“Well educated, and we love that there's a very high level of bilingualism in the market as well.”

Band said Millennium1 Solutions will take over 25,000 square feet at a large building located at 80 National Street, off Maley Drive in New Sudbury.

The company will start posting jobs on its website for 20 to 25 leadership and support positions, and will then start hiring primarily full-time staff who will handle customer support for some of “Canada's leading brands.”

Band said he could not divulge who those clients will be, but will be able to provide more information closer to the company's Sudbury launch date.

“We're really excited,” he said about the Sudbury expansion. “Sudbury is a great community. All the people we have met thus far have been so supportive.”

Band said the plan is to have up to 350 Sudbury employees by the end of 2017.

He added that with its presence in Sudbury the company hopes to become a part of the community's fabric.

“We'll be engaging in a number of activities, both from a charitable standpoint, as well as supporting education in other areas where we can,” he said.

Band said Millennium1 Solutions tries to support local charities in the communities in which it operates.
